Sometimes all you need is an undisturbed escape where all your needs are catered for. An all-inclusive resort will fulfill that desire and by opting for adults-only resorts, the absence of rowdy kids ensures ultimate relaxation in child-free, peaceful settings. Who doesn’t want that!?

Luckily Cabo has some of the best adults-only all-inclusive resorts in the country. We do love the beautiful Cancun resorts, but Cabo offers a change of pace that’s quite a bit different from Cancun, and it’s only a short plane ride for most Americans.

Where is Cabo?

Many people refer to this area as just “Cabo”, but there’s a bit more to it than that. The Los Cabos region in the Baja California peninsula, along Mexico’s southernmost tip, actually comprises two towns: Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.

These two towns are connected by a 20-mile long corridor that is home to many luxury resorts and golf courses. The area is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on the west, and the Sea of Cortez (also known as the Gulf of California) on the east. It’s about 1,000 miles south of San Diego, California.

It’s the perfect location for a romantic getaway or an adventurous excursion. The coastline offers amazing views and because the weather is great almost year round, you can participate in a number of great water sports or adventure activities.

The adults-only, all-inclusive resorts in Los Cabos are located throughout the region, not just in one town. You’ll want to do a little research on each location to make sure it suits your interests. For instance, you might want to be on the main beach in Cabo San Lucas so you are within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and other hotels, or you might want to be more secluded in San Jose del Cabo.

How to Get to Los Cabos

Getting to Los Cabos, a resort city on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula, typically involves flying there, especially for international visitors. You can consider long-distance buses or driving to Los Cabos, but these options take significantly longer and will eat into your vacation time.

I prefer to fly into Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), which the nearest airport. Most major airlines, including American, Delta, Southwest, United, and many international carriers, provide direct or connecting flights to Los Cabos from various cities around the world.

Once you arrive in Los Cabos, you’ll have a number of options for reaching your final destination. Rental cars, taxis, and airport shuttles are available for transport to hotels and resorts in the area. Some resorts also offer their own shuttle service.

Make sure you have a valid passport. Depending on your country of origin, you may also need a tourist visa. Check the Mexican embassy or consulate in your country for more information.

Getting Around in Los Cabos

If you’re staying at an all-inclusive resort in Los Cabos, you might find that a lot of what you need is already available on-site, including dining, entertainment, and various activities. However, if you want to explore more of the region, there are several options for getting around like taxis and rideshares.

Always check with your hotel concierge or front desk for the best and safest options. They can provide up-to-date information and help arrange transportation. And remember, always prioritize your safety, especially when using transportation late at night.

You can rent a car from the airport or from some hotels, if you’re comfortable navigating the roads. You’ll have to park at the hotel, which will likely incur another charge, but you’ll be able to go out and explore.

One thing to remember when renting a car in Mexico is that your U.S. car insurance typically won’t cover you unless you buy extra insurance, called Mexico tourist auto insurance or Mexican car insurance. When you’re at the counter, you can’t refuse the insurance as you might in other places.

Depending on where you’re staying, like right on the beach in Cabo San Lucas, you might just be able to walk everywhere you want to go. You can also book excursions to go do things like whale watching and sunset cruises.
