Maldives Travel Tips
- First of all, the Maldives are typically hot year round. So be sure to pack sunscreen and light clothes. Since you will be in the ocean a lot, we also recommend aqua shoes, a waterproof camera, a sunhat, sunglasses, and at least a couple of swimming suits you can rotate between.
- Travel around the Maldives is a bit different to other destinations. You have to travel via boat or seaplane. This will add an extra cost to your trip, so be aware. It can cost anywhere from $150 to $400 per person for the seaplane ride, and the boat ride is considerably cheaper.
- November to April are the months to be visiting since they are out of the rainy season. However we personally recommend going from June to October. Not only will travel and accommodation be cheaper since they are out of peak season but bioluminescent plankton travel to the surface of the ocean giving it an ethereal glow you can’t see anywhere else.
- If you are planning on visiting the capital Malé or any of the local villages outside of your private resort, remember the Maldives are Muslim islands. Try to be respectful and take something to cover your shoulders when exploring.
- As the Maldives are a Muslim country, any alcohol you buy in the duty free will be confiscated upon arrival. So if you are planning on buying some, do so on your way back home.
Conclusion
The Maldivian villas come in a range of prices so whatever your budget is you are able to get the honeymoon of your dreams.
No matter which resort you choose, you can be sure to make treasured memories for your first retreat as a married couple.
The romantic Maldives are not only a good bucket list destination, but also the ideal place to celebrate your love.
